Key Personnel

Owen Pocock
Principal Engineer, UK

About
Owen is a Principal (chartered) Engineer with over ten years’ specialist experience in advanced numerical analysis and structural engineering of offshore wind farms, drilling and production riser systems. Owen’s oil and gas project portfolio covers a range of riser types and systems (rigid and flexible) in deep and shallow water around the globe. He has also performed numerous engineering assessments and package management roles for both fixed-bottom and floating wind farm developments. Owen is experienced in concept, pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design for EPCI projects.
Expertise

Arran Armstrong
Technical Manager

About
Arran is 2H’s Geoconsultancy Technical Manager with an extensive career in offshore data acquisition, project management and geo-engineering consultancy. Arran joined the offshore industry as a graduate with RACAL in 2000, during this early time in Arran’s career he was primarily involved with geophysical and geotechnical offshore acquisition projects. After a period of time Arran specialised in geotechnics and geotechnical data acquisition, specifically with heave compensated geotechnical drilling vessels. In 2011 Arran moved onto Geo-engineering consultancy, applying his operational and technical experience gained as a site investigation contractor to provide clients with the knowledge they need to successfully meet their development design objectives. Now, as 2H’s Geonsultancy Technical Manager, Arran looks after our clients geo-engineering challenges whilst integrating with the other 2H engineering disciplines to provide our clients with holistic, turnkey engineering solutions.

Hilal Rosli
Senior Principal Engineer (Renewables), Kuala Lumpur

About
Hilal Rosli is a Senior Principal Engineer (Renewables) in 2H's Kuala Lumpur office, bringing over 15 years of expertise in the oil & gas and offshore wind sectors. He specialises in structural design, particularly in Conductor Supported Module Offshore Platforms (CoSMOS), wind turbines, subsea jumpers, and hybrid risers. His comprehensive skill set includes project management, offshore installation, onshore fabrication, and advanced structural engineering. Hilal is proficient in using industry-standard tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS Workbench, SACS, and GRLWEAP. He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton, UK, and has worked on projects globally contributing to innovative offshore solutions.

David Knights
Senior Project Manager, UK

About
David has over 19 years of industry experience covering a wide range of marine construction projects, both on and offshore. An experienced team leader, he has successfully delivered many projects across the offshore renewables, civil engineering and oil & gas sectors. He has extensive experience throughout project lifecycles and has been responsible for the delivery of various pioneering solutions within the offshore foundations industry.
Previous experience includes management of the design and delivery of numerous pre-piling template systems, resulting in the successful installation of nearly 1000 piles for multiple offshore renewable projects.
David has a First Class Masters Degree in Civil Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer.
Multi-disciplinary foundation concept evaluation
The global expansion of fixed wind into new regions and deeper waters brings a new set of challenges and considerations for offshore wind developers and the supply chain. Where monopiles were often the top choice, foundation selection is becoming increasingly development specific and requires a more comprehensive investigation prior to selection.
To facilitate this extremely complex decision, we use a novel foundation concept screening approach that reviews a wide range of quantitative criteria to evaluate suitability. Using an installation-led approach, we assess everything from soil, seabed interaction, fabrication, installation method, operations and environmental impact, to the levelised cost of energy (LCOE) over all phases of the lifecycle, factoring in integrity management, life extension and decommissioning. Ultimately, this takes the guesswork out of foundation selection and eliminates costly surprises later in the project.
Our goal is to develop the optimal solution, not just something that does the job. We use a holistic systems approach and consider every aspect of the project lifecycle to identify where we can enable cost and schedule efficiencies during procurement, fabrication, transportation, installation, operations and maintenance.
Delivering installation strategies that optimise the path to “first wind”
Leaning on our extensive real-world experience installing foundations offshore, we have created opportunities to lower installation costs, minimise risk and reduce the time to “first wind”. Partnerships with local manufacturers and fabrication yards and creative approaches to installation and scheduling have enabled us to streamline our delivery process and minimise the environmental impact of the project.
In-house geotechnical expertise
We leverage the expertise and experience of our in-house geotechnical team in all our fixed wind projects, from site evaluation all the way through to the operational phase. This could include ground model development, driveability/drillability assessments, noise reduction analysis or pile run.
