Our journey
2H was named after its two founders Hugh Howells and Steve Hatton back in 1993 when they established the company in the UK. What started as a two-man business in a spare bedroom is now one of the largest specialist engineering companies in the energy business. Take a look at some of the key projects and milestones that have shaped our growth through the years.
Independent integrity division, Clarus Subsea Integrity
Established in January 2015, Clarus Subsea Integrity operates independently as the integrity management division of 2H.
Clarus specialises in subsea integrity engineering and digitalisation services, offering custom integrity solutions for a variety of in-water systems including hull and moorings, risers, flowlines and pipelines, subsea structures and control systems, and fixed and floating wind systems.
In collaboration with 2H, Clarus implements continuous improvement of IM programs by leveraging mutual experience and expertise from design to operations to support asset lifecycle management for our clients.
Owned by Acteon, a marine energy & infrastructure services group
2H is owned by Acteon Group Operations (UK) Limited and operates independently, providing clients with unbiased, technology-led advanced systems engineering.
Acteon supports the offshore renewable energy, nearshore construction and oil and gas industries by delivering commercial and environmental benefits and helping to enable the energy transition. The project efficiencies they offer, combined with the approach to minimising environmental impact, have helped Acteon build a global reputation as a valued partner for installing, maintaining and removing marine infrastructure across project life cycles.
Acteon specialises in data collection and survey techniques ahead of construction, the installation of key foundation and anchoring technologies, the monitoring and management of assets and the decommissioning of assets.
