Key Personnel
Alex Rimmer
Global Engineering Director, UK

About
Alex joined 2H Offshore in 2004 and has been a UK Director since 2011, based in 2H’s London Office. He is jointly responsible for 2H’s European offices and engineering activities across the EMEA regions.
Alex is a Chartered Engineer with the IMechE and holds a first-class Master of Engineering degree from the University of Bath. He has over 20 years of project execution and management experience developed at 2H and in previous roles.
He is a recognised subject matter expert in dynamic subsea system analysis and engineering and provides technical oversight and consultancy to a broad range of deep and shallow water energy projects. He specialises in all types of drilling, completion and production riser systems, as well as platform well and subsea well systems. For the past 5 years, he has primarily been driving forward 2H UK's floating wind (coupled analysis, power cables, moorings and anchor piles) and CCUS well activities, but continues to support the projects in oil and gas as well.
He has been involved in many challenging and innovative offshore subsea and renewable developments. His energy sector highlights include BP’s Block 31 PSVM and Total’s Kaombo hybrid riser detailed designs, Total’s West of Shetland UK subsea development and many of Aker BP’s well platforms in Norway. Renewable energy highlights include support to industry initiatives with ORE Catapult on floating wind HV power cables, and several pioneering wave energy and floating wind platforms and developments.

Pierre Guerin
Director, France

About
Pierre is the director of the 2H France office. He is based in the south of France and splits his time between there and Paris. He is responsible for management of the Paris office and global growth of the company’s engineering services for the renewable energy sector. Guerin came to 2H in April 2021 with over 20 years’ experience in marine renewable energy, in particular, offshore wind, shipbuilding and oil and gas. Most recently he spent 5 years managing the development of renewable energy projects for Bardot Ocean. He also has an impressive 10-year track record of regional and international expansion projects from Principia where he focused on floating structures, coastal and naval defence engineering.

Floating wind systems are complex, dynamic structures that demand precise, integrated engineering to ensure robust, cost-effective solutions with optimised performance. With over 30 years of experience in dynamic marine environments, 2H combines cutting-edge technology with practical expertise in offshore system design, geotechnics, materials, hardware, and installation to deliver optimised, leading-edge solutions for floating wind developments worldwide.
Owner’s Engineer Services
We provide comprehensive owner’s engineering support to guide floating wind projects from early development through construction and commissioning. Our services include concept design, pre-FEED and FEED support, detailed design reviews, and interface management. We offer an independent review of installation concepts, monitor construction activities — including on-site representation — and prepare contingency plans to mitigate risks.
We also support floating foundation assessment and selection, helping clients make informed decisions based on technical, commercial, and site-specific considerations. Throughout the project lifecycle, we act as a trusted advisor, ensuring quality, protecting investment, and driving successful outcomes.
Full System Global Analysis
We provide full global analysis and modeling of the entire floating wind system — from seabed to turbine tip — stress-testing every component, interface, and interaction. This comprehensive approach ensures the system is designed for real-world conditions, identifies design limitations and risks, and uncovers opportunities for optimisation and cost reduction. Where performance can be improved, we propose viable alternatives to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Integrated Design Approach
As a trusted system integrator, we support floating wind projects from concept through front-end engineering and design. Our integrated, multidisciplinary approach covers floating structures, turbines, moorings, anchors, and power cables—both individually and in combination. This enables early identification of engineering challenges and efficient resolution to ensure cohesive system performance across all project phases. We specialise in managing system interfaces between the platform, mooring, and cable.
Advanced Analysis for Power Cables
Reliable power cable design is critical in floating wind systems. We use advanced dynamic simulations to assess cable behavior under operational conditions, ensuring dependable performance with minimal risk. Our cross-sectional analysis evaluates the condition and integrity of individual armor wires, conductors, insulation, and protective sheaths under mechanical and electrical stresses, enabling confident design decisions and optimised configurations.
Cost-conscious Approach to Minimise Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE)
Our commercially driven engineering approach balances technical innovation with economic viability. We strive to minimise LCOE by scaling proven designs, using high-performance materials, reducing unnecessary conservatism in analysis, and streamlining fabrication and installation processes. The result is an optimised design that supports both technical and commercial project success.
