Director, France

About
Pierre is the director of the 2H France office. He is based in the south of France and splits his time between there and Paris. He is responsible for management of the Paris office and global growth of the company’s engineering services for the renewable energy sector. Guerin came to 2H in April 2021 with over 20 years’ experience in marine renewable energy, in particular, offshore wind, shipbuilding and oil and gas. Most recently he spent 5 years managing the development of renewable energy projects for Bardot Ocean. He also has an impressive 10-year track record of regional and international expansion projects from Principia where he focused on floating structures, coastal and naval defence engineering.

Clemence Du Fretay
Senior Engineer

About
Clémence Du Fretay is a project manager and a senior mechanical engineer based in our Paris office. She has over 7 years of engineering experience including 5 years of offshore engineering project experience at 2H. She has been involved in multiple large-scale projects in the renewable energy sector. Most recently, she has been involved in floating offshore wind projects in France focused on mooring, anchor and power cable analysis, and has been involved in water cooling projects (SWAC or OTEC).

Technology for floating wind is advancing quickly. Mooring and anchors are critical in enabling floating systems to be used in deepwater and good design is key to ensuring installability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. With a large multi-disciplinary pool of engineers and resources covering naval architecture, dynamic analysis, structural and geotechnical engineering, 2H provides mooring and anchor assessment and design for floating offshore wind turbines from early-stage concept selection and sizing through to installation and integrity management.
System Design
Our approach to mooring design for floating wind applications considers the response of the system as a whole. We work with models that capture the highly non-linear and coupled response of the turbine, floater and mooring system. The loads in the system are quantified and designed for in the mooring itself but also consider the floater interface and anchor capacity. We also provide advanced fully coupled analysis of floating wind developments that simulate the mooring, power cable, platform and turbine loading characteristics and interaction.
Through a combination of in-house expertise and collaborative efforts with other companies in the Acteon group, we consider not just the design of the anchors but their installability. Considering site-specific geotechnical conditions and with intimate understanding of the mooring system, we provide independent concept selection through to detailed engineering.
Anchor Selection
We work with the full range of anchor concepts including driven, suction, drilled and grouted, drag embedment anchors, gravity-based anchors, vertically loaded anchors and suction-embedded plate anchors. Through a combination of in-house expertise and collaborative efforts with other companies in the Acteon group, we consider not just the design of the anchors but their installability. Considering site-specific geotechnical conditions and with an intimate understanding of the mooring system, we provide independent concept selection through to detailed engineering.
Our services include providing expertise for planning the anchor installation and include installation plans and costings for all anchor types to suit the site-specific geotechnical data and locally available marine spreads.
Mooring Design
We provide mooring analysis and design for floating wind from concept through to detail design. Our engineers are experienced with catenary and taut mooring systems and modelling the characteristics of steel, polyester and nylon moorings. We optimize the mooring design not only to ensure an acceptable mooring response but also to enable cost-effective foundation design and installation and to optimize platform response to minimize any impact on turbine efficiency.
