Keys to Developing a Robust Life Extension Programme for Flexible Risers

Over 30% of unbonded flexible risers currently in service are approaching or have exceeded their original design lives. They are complex, multilayer structures that are designed to have service lives between 10 and 25 years and fatigue lives at least 10 times the intended service life, as required by industry specifications.

They are constructed from materials that allow them to withstand demanding service conditions internally: pressure, temperature and production chemistry; and externally: waves, current, platform motions and hydrostatic pressure. However, continuing production through these risers requires a remnant life assessment in order to justify and manage continued safe operation. During this webinar we will discuss how to plan and execute a flexible riser life extension programme.

Learning Outcomes:

  • The impact of the most common failure modes of flexible risers.

  • The importance of a robust, risk-based integrity management programme.

  • How the application of advanced analysis can help to provide a more accurate assessment of the remnant life of flexible risers.

  • What types of environmental, operational, inspection and monitoring data can help maximise the value of a life extension analysis.

This webinar is ideally suited for production riser engineers, asset integrity engineers/managers and those wanting to increase their knowledge in how to approach life extension of flexible risers.
