Objective of this presentation:
▪ Describe challenges for shallow water operations with DP rigs
▪ Provide solutions for key design & operational challenges

Background:
▪ Traditional shallow water wells (water depth of 300 ft-500 ft) are drilled using jackups/ moored rigs.
However dynamically positioned (DP) mobile offshore drilling unit (MODU) rigs are being considered
▪ Majority of shallow water wells were drilled in early developments of offshore drilling. Plug and
abandonment operations of those wells are done using DP vessels due to lack of availability of the
original rigs.
