Monopiles offer development flexibility with a design that combines the CAPEX and OPEX advantages of a lightweight normally unmanned installation (NUI) with the fast track and local fabrication benefits of a minimal structure. In shallow water applications, this widely used technology helps operators achieve low engineering, construction and installation costs and an accelerated schedule to first oil or gas.

Freestanding conductor-supported topside

Depending on the metocean conditions and water depth, a monopile can be based around a standard well conductor with mechanical connectors. In this arrangement, a freestanding conductor supports a lightweight topside deck and the required surface equipment. When the wave loading is high, or in otherwise high fatigue environments, a subsea structure and skirt piles may be needed. Skirt piles can be used for future well slots supporting later conversion to a conductor-supported platform.

Where the environmental conditions are more extreme or the topside requirements greater, a large diameter caisson can be used to host multiple wells and support the topsides.

We will help determine the best solution for your development, accounting for environmental conditions, deck facilities, weight and future expansion plans.
