At 2H, we provide independent engineering for floating foundations and mooring systems, leveraging cutting-edge coupled analysis techniques alongside our structural and geotechnical engineering expertise. As floating wind technology evolves, foundations and moorings are essential enablers for deepwater deployments. Their design is critical to achieving reliable, installable, and cost-effective floating wind systems.

With a large multidisciplinary team covering naval architecture, dynamic analysis, structural engineering, and geotechnics, we support floating wind projects from early-stage concept selection through to detailed design, installation, and long-term integrity management. Our broad experience across a range of technologies and site conditions allows us to deliver tailored, technically sound solutions for each project.

Mooring System Design 

Our mooring design approach accounts for the complete system response — including the turbine, floater, mooring lines, and anchors — using fully coupled nonlinear analysis. We quantify loads across the entire system, ensuring compatibility between mooring design, platform performance, and anchor capacity.

We have extensive experience with both catenary and taut mooring systems and work with steel, polyester, and nylon mooring materials as well as novel mooring load reduction devices (LRDs). Our designs aim to ensure safe, reliable performance while also optimizing platform motion to maintain turbine efficiency and minimize overall system cost.
