Key Personnel
Yusuf Arikan
Senior Principal Engineer
About
Yusuf Arikan has over 15 years of structural engineering and project management experience in the design and analysis of various offshore structures including hydrodynamics of various floating offshore wind foundations. In recent years, he has been extensively involved in floating offshore wind projects, specifically the coupled assessment of the floater & turbine, and the design and analysis of mooring systems and power cables.
Yusuf holds a Bachelor’s degree from Bogazici University, Turkey and a Master’s degree from the University of Houston. He is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas and Project Management Professional (PMP).

Arran Armstrong
Technical Manager
About
Arran is 2H’s Geoconsultancy Technical Manager with an extensive career in offshore data acquisition, project management and geo-engineering consultancy. Arran joined the offshore industry as a graduate with RACAL in 2000, during this early time in Arran’s career he was primarily involved with geophysical and geotechnical offshore acquisition projects. After a period of time Arran specialised in geotechnics and geotechnical data acquisition, specifically with heave compensated geotechnical drilling vessels. In 2011 Arran moved onto Geo-engineering consultancy, applying his operational and technical experience gained as a site investigation contractor to provide clients with the knowledge they need to successfully meet their development design objectives. Now, as 2H’s Geonsultancy Technical Manager, Arran looks after our clients geo-engineering challenges whilst integrating with the other 2H engineering disciplines to provide our clients with holistic, turnkey engineering solutions.
Yohanna Ruocco
Principal Engineer, Clarus Subsea Integrity
About
Yohanna Ruocco is a Principal Engineer with Clarus Subsea Integrity and has worked in the offshore integrity management field for 10 years. Yohanna started in the industry conducting analysis for deepwater risers and conductors. She has managed the subsea integrity program for various operators in the Gulf of Mexico and conducted life extension evaluations for subsea tiebacks. She graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Civil Engineering.

What sets us apart?
Our core strength is our deep understanding of the complexities of flowline and pipeline design and how those systems respond in harsh subsea environments. We leverage advanced engineering techniques to create systems that are designed to be both robust and efficient.
We operate independently, allowing us to offer unbiased solutions that are focused entirely on our clients' needs. Your project’s success is our sole priority.
We have many years of experience in flowlines and pipelines and understand the critical role they play in your subsea infrastructure. Taking all adjacent systems into account early ensures seamless integration that translates into a fully cohesive and more reliable system.
Beyond our core design capabilities, we offer a range of supplemental specialist engineering services designed to optimise and enhance your system’s performance throughout its lifecycle; from early concept geotechnical studies, to buckling analysis and fracture mechanics, to the implementation of digital twin and integrity management programs.
Key Services
The geoengineering aspect of pipeline design starts early within a project’s lifecycle and begins with a desktop study. This review of existing data helps determine ground conditions at the site and identify any hazards associated with the route design including any geological hazards and anthropogenic constraints that could dictate the pipeline routing or protection philosophy.
Following the desktop study and concept engineering, detailed specification and management of geophysical and geotechnical data acquisition is key to mitigating any design and installation risks. This includes the detailed specification of onshore laboratory testing for input into the pipe-soil interface engineering analysis. In parallel, the geophysical and geotechnical data is used to develop a detailed ground model to identify all unknowns and hazards such as routing constraints and hazards to the in-place design or installation and to develop solutions to challenges posed by nature.
We design pipeline systems that transport hydrocarbons and pressurised fluids efficiently throughout the life of the asset, no matter the throughput condition or fluid composition. We develop start-up, changes in operational status, and shutdown procedures that are compatible with the operational capability of the upstream and downstream facilities and make recommendations on modifications needed for optimal design.
Based on the project type, objectives and phase, 2H’s flow assurance team will establish the most suitable system design process, which typically includes the following steps: flow assurance design basis, fluid characterisation modelling, steady thermo-hydraulic analysis, transient thermo-hydraulic analysis and operating strategy development.
We excel in providing comprehensive offshore pipeline design solutions. Our approach extends beyond conventional engineering practices, incorporating the lifecycle engineering services from initial concept to decommissioning. By considering operational aspects throughout the pipeline’s life, we optimise performance, minimise risks, and ensure long-term reliability.
Our designs benefit from real-world operational integrity experience. We actively feed insights from our integrity management practices back into the design process. This feedback loop ensures that our pipelines not only meet technical specifications but also withstand the challenges posed by harsh offshore environments.
Offshore pipeline integrity management is a crucial activity during operations to ensure the safe transport of hydrocarbons, prevent environmental disasters caused by leaks or ruptures, and extend the lifespan of the infrastructure, all of which can help reduce operational costs. We have extensive experience developing comprehensive risk-based integrity management programs for offshore and onshore pipeline systems. This can include risk assessments, developing integrity management plans, inspection assessments, anomaly management, in-line inspection (ILI) feasibility and structural monitoring.
These services are provided in collaboration with Clarus Subsea Integrity, a division of 2H.
