2H Offshore Completes Mooring Tension Monitoring Trials

2H Offshore has successfully completed mooring line tension monitoring trials for Petrobras on the P-35 turret moored FPSO in the Marlin Field of Campos Basin, Brazil.

2H’s approach involved utilizing its field proven INTEGRIpod, two of which were installed by divers on opposing mooring lines in April 2006. Subsea cables were run from the three monitors to the turret so that data could be downloaded through the Petrobras network. 2H’s mooring line monitoring software demonstrated the real-time values of top inclination and top tension, together with time-traces of both values to inform of mooring condition, track mooring line behavior and provide information to help perform preventative actions.

The facility’s previous method of monitoring involved manual measurement by inclinometer, which can result in inaccuracies if the sensor is not fixed and properly aligned with the mooring line.

As a result of the P-35 trials, Petrobras has awarded 2H Offshore with technical approval and the potential of bidding on future projects.
