2H Offshore Anode Sleds Installed in Gulf of Mexico

2H Offshore and Intermoor have successfully completed installation of three retrofit sacrificial anode cathodic protection systems on wells located in the Gulf of Mexico. The installation consisted of maneuvering the anode sleds in approximately 4500 ft water depth to target locations less than 50 ft from the producing wellheads.

The design engineering and hardware procurement were conducted by 2H. Conceptual design of the retrofit anode sled system was developed to satisfy strict installation constraints. Each anode sled consists of a structural frame supporting 2400 lbs (900kg) of sacrificial aluminum. Special ROV adapted clamps connect the sled to the wellhead through heavy duty electrical cables. The retrofit system will provide cathodic protection to the conductor, wellhead and riser for 20 years.
