The measurement-based wellhead fatigue JIP has consolidated field measurements from ten (10) drilling campaigns to determine the conservatism (or otherwise) of riser and wellhead fatigue analysis based on typical design assumptions.  Field data were selected for a range of environments, water depths (110 to 1,900 m), soil characteristics, riser and wellhead configurations, and vessel types. Consistent review and analysis were performed for all datasets.

About the Presenter

Bulent Mercan is a Principal Engineer and has 10+ years of engineering experience in structural analysis, subsea design, integrity management and structural monitoring.  He is based in 2H’s Houston office and leads multiple engineering projects including measurement-based wellhead fatigue JIP. Bulent received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He is a professional engineer licensed in Texas. He is also a part-time senior lecturer in the University of Houston, teaching structural analysis and design courses.
