The Role

As principal flexible riser engineer, you will be responsible for developing and managing 2H Offshore’s flexible riser design and analysis, integrity management and life extension business in Perth, WA. You will also provide support with general office management and business development. Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Flexible riser business development– use existing 2H contacts and personal network to grow flexible riser business.
  • Promotion of 2H Offshore’s flexible riser capability.
  • As a member of our global flexible riser team, provide specialist flexible riser support to engineers, project managers and senior management across the company.
  • Bid preparation.
  • Technical management of engineering projects. Lead and manage flexible riser related work scopes (design, analysis, IM, life extension, monitoring).
  • Training and mentoring of 2H staff.
  • Recruitment of engineering staff.
  • Conduct general office business development (i.e. non-flexible riser).
  • Responsible for the technical management of detailed engineering projects for the design of deepwater riser systems including top tensioned, steel catenary, flexible, bundled hybrid, single line offset (SLOR), concentric offset (COR) and drilling/completion risers.
  • Provide client liaison and cost control.
  • Provide technical support and supervision for project teams comprised of 3+ project engineers.
  • Conduct analysis and engineering calculations for riser design.
  • Possible secondment to clients or other companies to coordinate projects, interface with project teams, develop required working designs and ensure feasibility of systems within defined budget & schedule.
  • Perform work in compliance with 2H Offshore’s health & safety policy.

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ flexible pipe engineering experience
  • Experience in a client-facing role
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, structural, naval architecture), mathematics, physics, or similar
  • Flexcom or Orcaflex experience
  • Aptitude and enthusiasm for managing project and analytical work efficiently
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments
  • Previous experience with professional organizations such as Engineers Australia or Society of Underwater Technology is advantageous.
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia (work visa or citizenship).
