Instrumentation Engineer – Kuala Lumpur

Role Overview

As instrumentation engineer, you help manage our team of engineers and draftsmen, ensuring offshore projects run to schedule and budget, as well as preparing tenders and project deliverables and interfacing with clients and subject-matter experts.

  • Basic & detailed design engineering activities for offshore platform projects.
  • Activity planning, work scheduling, assigning responsibilities to engineers & draftsmen, and monitoring to meet the project schedule with resource optimization.
  • Preparation/review SOW, project specific instrumentation & control system specifications (DCS/SIS/FGS), design calculation/analysis, procurement specification.
  • Interface with other disciplines, user departments and clients.
  • Estimation/engineering work related to bids.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring planned engineering (instrumentation) progress with respect to the engineering deliverables for tenders and projects, instrumentation engineering planning & scheduling, preparation of progress reports, manpower & resource forecasts, time schedules of engineers, effective & efficient utilization of resources.
  • Instrumentation design & detail engineering including performing design calculations, sizing & selection of instruments (e.g. control valves, etc.) for tenders and projects.
  • Review of Clients tender documents, specifications, datasheets, verification of FEED design & calculations.
  • Preparation of various engineering deliverables (drawings & documents) such as loop diagrams, instrument datasheets, specifications, control system architecture, panel layouts, field layouts, cause & effect matrix, control narrative and logic drawings.
  • Participate in various review workshops such as P & ID reviews, HAZOP, design review, constructability review etc. and providing necessary engineering inputs.
  • To ensure proper division of work & responsibility among the instrumentation engineers, providing proper guidance & integration of work, and ensuring a positive working environment among our team of engineers to ensure optimum productivity & efficiency.
  • Preparation & issue of RFQs, evaluation of vendor quotations, clarifications, technical bid analysis, etc.
  • Review of vendor documents, drawings, datasheets, specifications and calculations.

Requirements

  • B.E/B.TECH/B.S. in instrumentation engineering.
  • 7 – 8 years in oil & gas or petrochemical design engineering (with a minimum 3– 4 experience in oil & gas industry, in consulting or an EPC company with design & engineering capability)
  • Hands-on experience in software such as Autocad, InTools and valve sizing calculation.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering design aspects is advantageous.
  • Conversant with engineering standards such as API, NFPA, ASME, BS / EN etc, and client standards for SHELL, ARAMCO, MOBIL, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire to take responsibility and ownership of tasks.
  • Must be eligible to work in Malaysia.
