HV Cable Engineering Specialist – Woking

We are seeking an HV Cable Engineering Specialist with experience in electrical engineering to join our UK team to lead, further develop and undertake engineering and design activities for static and dynamic power cables for offshore wind in our rapidly growing renewables business.

2H Offshore is a leading independent international consultancy at the forefront of offshore and subsea engineering. We specialise in three main areas:

  • Subsea risers, umbilicals, cables and conductors
  • Minimum facility platforms & subsea structures
  • Fixed & floating wind, wave & tidal structures

Our work involves the system design, structural and dynamic analysis, fabrication, installation management and integrity management of these structures for the offshore renewables and oil and gas industries.


  • Develop the company’s ability to perform all aspects of cable engineering including:
    • Inter-array cable network redundancy design
    • Cost versus risk assessment
    • Specifications for RFQ cable procurement
    • Bid review support
    • Manufacturing and installation oversight
  • Focus on technical sales including technical presentations, webinars and conference papers
  • Development of in-house routines and spreadsheets
  • Writing and checking of technical reports
  • Training junior staff globally
  • Interfacing with clients
  • Global mobility may be required to attend client meetings


  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in renewables.
  • Degree level educated with a Bachelors or preferably a Masters degree in electrical engineering or similar field, with a 2.1 or above.
  • Experience in the specification of high voltage cables for offshore wind farms including cable sizing, subsea layouts, termination and junction design.
  • Experience in the offshore installation of cables.
  • Experience of different HV cable project phases from concept through to detailed design.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal English.
  • Strong planning, organisation and supervision skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good aptitude for leadership and management.
  • Demonstrate great teamwork and the ability to support and guide others.
  • Ability to participate and lead meetings and presentations internally and externally.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to have face to face meetings with clients.
  • Proactive and the ability to adapt to new challenges and opportunities.
  • Desire to achieve technical excellence.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
