2H is managing a comprehensive life extension assessment for one of the world’s largest offshore platforms in the Gulf of America.
The project scope includes evaluation of the production and test steel catenary risers (SCRs), water injection flexible risers, hull piping, and flowlines. This multi-year project, which began in July 2023, started with a detailed review of design, fabrication, installation, and operational data to establish the current condition of the systems. Subsequent phases include targeted inspections and advanced engineering assessments incorporating real-world, “as-is” conditions.
2H’s relationship with this asset dates back to 2003, when the company completed the original SCR design, followed by a decade of active SURF integrity management. During the platform’s operational years, 2H has also conducted multiple engineering studies driven by inspection and monitoring data, providing the operations team with in-depth knowledge of the asset’s systems and performance.
The life extension project is being led by 2H’s Houston team, leveraging the expertise of the company’s subsea and integrity engineers and a proven track record in life extension projects.
“Having been part of this asset’s journey from its early design through years of integrity management, this project feels like a natural continuation. We’re honored to support the operator once again in ensuring the longevity and safety of one of the Gulf’s most significant assets.” said Dhyan Deka, Project Manager at 2H.
Over the past decade, 2H has delivered more than 30 subsea life extension projects and continues to support operators worldwide with asset integrity, life extension assessments, and regulatory verification.
