Well Engineer – Aberdeen Office

The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out tubular design and verification of well casings and completions, and structural design and dynamic analysis of riser systems and subsea structures. The role will include the following activities:

  • Design activities on new wells and a varied range of analyses on existing wells such as verification for change of/continued use and failure analysis.
  • Verification of preliminary well designs conform to the client’s design standards and existing wells are capable of sustaining the client’s planned operations.
  • Thermal simulation of all types of well operations and the associated stress analysis on well tubulars and equipment.
  • Calculations, dynamic structural analysis and system configuration for a variety of subsea structures.
  • Ensuring acceptable structural and fatigue performance of designs, whilst considering the functional, fabrication, installation and in-service requirements.
  • Communication of technical results and conclusions to other members of the team and clients through meetings, presentations and written reports.


  • Minimum 2.1 degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, structural, etc.), mathematics, physics, or similar
  • Basic knowledge of well construction and well/petroleum engineering activities
  • Aptitude and enthusiasm for carrying out analytical work efficiently
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to take responsibility and ownership of tasks
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A desire to develop a career and expertise in the oil and gas industry
  • Previous experience with industry-standard software (WellCat™, StressCheck™) is advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
