Johnny Shield, Offshore Wind Lead for 2H, is relocating from the UK and will lead the Melbourne office. Johnny has previously held senior positions in Acteon brands, including LDD. With almost 22 years of offshore energy experience in Western Australia, the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, Shield has worked across all phases of offshore and subsea projects from initial concept development through to delivery and operation. He has considerable experience managing engineering and supply teams for multi-million-dollar oil and gas and offshore wind installation projects; as well as technology development, inventing patented offshore connection and installation tooling including Rocksteady™ and Nimway™.

About

Johnny has over 22 years of offshore energy experience and was appointed Offshore Wind Lead for 2H in Australia in 2024. In this role, he is responsible for the growth of 2H’s eastern Australia and offshore wind business.

He started his career with Woodside before joining the Acteon Group in 2008, where he has held numerous roles from engineer to managing director across multiple Acteon companies, including 2H, SRP, and Large Diameter Drilling (LDD). Johnny also serves as Technology Director in the Acteon Engineering, Moorings and Foundations segment.

Johnny has expertise in all phases of offshore and subsea projects from initial concept development through to delivery and operation. His experience has seen him managing engineering and supply teams for various multi-million-dollar oil and gas and offshore wind installation projects.

He obtained his degree in mechanical engineering with honours from the University of Tasmania and holds several patents for connection and installation technology in the offshore oil and gas and renewables sectors.
